Our story

A taste of where we come from.

Cane jaggery from Kama. An Afghan tradition we want to share.

Where it begins
Broad valley and rugged mountain ranges in Afghanistan's Wakhan corridor
Wakhan Valley, Afghanistan

Our roots

It starts in Kama.

Afghanistan

Life in the valleys.

Farming is part of everyday life across Afghanistan's river valleys. Orchards, grain and sugarcane grow between the mountains.

Kama, Nangarhar

Where our cane grows.

Kama is a farming district in Nangarhar, eastern Afghanistan. Known for its sugarcane and gurr, it gives our product its name.

Sugarcane

From juice to jaggery.

Sugarcane is pressed for its juice. The juice is heated until thick, then cooled and cut into pieces.

A familiar taste, ready to share.

The product

A tradition worth sharing.

Gurr

A familiar sweetness.

Gurr has a rich caramel taste with an earthy sweetness. Enjoy a piece with tea or add it to a favourite recipe.

Tradition

Made with care.

KAMA GURR takes its lead from traditional jaggery making. Our aim is to keep that familiar taste and present it with care.

Our purpose

What comes next.

Khwaglanzai

The company behind KAMA GURR.

We want to introduce Afghan products to a new generation of customers. KAMA GURR brings that purpose back to the fields of Kama.

Farmers and community

An aim rooted in Kama.

Our ambition is to work with Kama's growers and help create more demand for their sugarcane.

Looking ahead

A place at more tables.

We hope to bring KAMA GURR to customers beyond Afghanistan and share a little of where we come from.

What matters to us

Respect the tradition. Make it with care. Share it with pride.
